A live music and multi-media millennial retrospective of popular musical classics that shaped the sights and sounds of the Civil Rights Movement, highlighting the revolutionary year 1963. Behind every movement is a soundtrack that mobilizes, changes and inspires leaders for generations to come. From the Black empowerment songs of James Brown to the outcries for justice for Mike Brown, Soundtrack ’63 focuses attention around one of the single most important movements in history with liberation messages that remain relevant today. Adapted to the history of each city where the production is featured, this production by Soundtrack ‘63 will feature poetry, spoken word, video, vocalists, a choir and symphony orchestra all focusing on the stories and songs from Atlanta’s civil rights history.
