Where:

Atlanta, GA 30313

Please join us as we engage our NBAF Community in Conversation on the following topics. This community conversation and many others will inform the 10 muralists that have been selected to paint 20 murals in the city of Atlanta with the intention of giving our 2019 Super Bowl visitors and the world a picture of the people of Atlanta.

WE WILL DISCUSS AND HOPE TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

Past and Present Objective:
To chronicle stories of the struggle civil and human rights and to give voice to narratives commonly known and otherwise untold. To broaden the catalogue of narratives of the struggle for civil rights and social justice to be inclusive of but not exclusive to Atlanta’s African American community.

Questions:
What are some of the untold stories that make up the history of the struggle for civil rights from the perspective of NBAF supporters? What is your community’s current struggle for civil rights and social justice?

Historical Framing Objective:
To create space for the visualization of communities on the other side of oppression. To identify the role of art and artists in the reflection of the times as well as its ability to point to a future that dares to see the world differently than now.

Questions:
What might our communities look like if we didn’t have to struggle for justice? What does liberation/ freedom look like for our communities?
