Film Particpants

Launched in 2010, the First Glance Teen Film Competition encourages teen filmmakers to follow their dreams, express their artistic vision, tell great stories and further develop their technical skills.  This component of the First Glance competition is open to an International body of students aged 14-18. Film submissions are judged on artistic excellence, technical merit and how well the theme is integrated into the overall concept of the film.  The 2012 theme is “Connect, Inspire, Transform”.

Specifications & How to Submit:

  • Film submissions must be no longer than 4 minutes.  Film submissions longer than 4 minutes will be disqualified.
  • Films must be submitted via YouTube AND a DVD must be mailed.
  • DVD’s must be formatted NTSC or PAL (please test before sending).
  • When uploading films to YouTube, title the short in the following format: “NBAF First Glance – (title of the film)”.  Enter the YouTube link where required on the First Glance Application Form and submit by the April 15, 2012 deadline.
  • Please note that any explicit language and explicit content will not be accepted in this competition. You must adhere to the rules and regulations for YouTube and the mission and purpose of NBAF.

Finalists will be selected by a juried panel of professionals in the film making industry as well as members of the artistic community at large. All finalists will be notified as film shorts advance to the final rounds. Finalists will be screened and judged at the FIRST GLANCE FINALS in July 2012.
