The National Black Arts Festival (NBAF) is the one of the
premier national and international celebrations of the art,
music and culture of people of African descent. The NBAF has become a global resource for education and information, and an organization serving artists, audiences, teachers and students.
NBAF has undertaken a comprehensive program
designed to introduce students to the complex history of
African American culture.
The NBAF Education and Family Program specifically develops new materials to
strengthen existing school curriculum in history and culture to include an understanding and appreciation of the contributions of people of African descent.
NBAF’s year-round Education and Family Programs have been structured to provide children, families, educators and the general public with the means to explore and understand the history and culture of the African Diaspora.
Experiential education is a philosophy and a methodology in which the leader is purposefully engaged in direct experience and focused reflection in order to increase knowledge, develop skills and clarify values.

Major funding for this organization is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners through the Fulton County Arts Council. Additional funding for educational programming is provided by the U.S. Department of Education (Public Law 111-8), The Coca-Cola Company, Zeist Foundation, Georgia Council for the Arts, City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, Georgia Power, Zaxby’s, Georgia Lottery, Publix Super Market Charities, Nissan Foundation, Target Foundation, Ryan Cameron Foundation, Ray M. and Elizabeth Lee Foundation and the Woodruff Arts Center. |
