NBAF Selected as Curator for Atlanta Hawks’ 2016 Black History Campaign

The National Black Arts Festival (NBAF) has been selected to help shape the program and select the participants for the Atlanta Hawks’ True Comes In All Colors: Celebrating Black History campaign. With this unique partnership, the Atlanta Hawks and NBAF join in recognizing and celebrating the extraordinary artistic richness and the profound transformational impact artists working in all disciplines have had in Atlanta, America and across the world. “Partnering with the Atlanta Hawks to showcase Atlanta’s Black trailblazers, luminaries and rising stars aligns with our long cultural legacy of fostering dynamic and strategic partnerships within and outside of Atlanta,” said Lolita Browning Jackson, chair of the board of directors, NBAF.

NBAF is enthusiastic about collaborating with the new Atlanta Hawks leadership and support its demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their operations.

NBAF’s Executive Director, Grace C. Stanislaus noted, “With this campaign, the Atlanta Hawks continues to demonstrate its commitment not just to diversity and inclusion but to supporting arts and culture and meaningfully engaging its local communities. NBAF shares their commitment and values our new partnership in supporting arts and culture in Atlanta; something we have done for over twenty-eight years.”

The collaboration is part of the Atlanta Basketball Club’s expanding focus on speaking directly to multicultural audiences that are represented throughout the metro area.

“The NBAF is the pre-eminent leader in showcasing the expansive contributions of black artists in the diaspora. We are honored they have chosen to partner with the Atlanta Hawks in our mission to entertain and unite the city through showcasing unique storytelling and artists. Our alliance is another amazing opportunity to highlight Atlanta’s distinctive history as the nation’s home for civil rights as well as a modern cultural mecca,” said David Lee, Senior Vice President, External Affairs of the Atlanta Hawks and Executive Director of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation.
